Curtis Jones has been called up for the England U21s. It will be a very valuable opportunity for him. The Young Lions will meet France on March 25 and Croatia on March 28 for international friendlies.

Might secure game time after a valuable opportunity

The 22-year English international is currently playing for Liverpool. He has battled a lack of game time as well as injuries. But now has recently been a part of a rotating bench alongside Alex Oxlade-Chamberlian and Fabio Carvalho.

Despite the lack of game time, his name was announced in Lee Carlsey’s 26-man squad for the upcoming friendlies.

He has played only 55 minutes for Liverpool this season; five games on the bench. England’s two friendlies could be very beneficial for Jones.

As Stefan Bajcetic is now out for the rest of the season due to an injury and injuries not far away from the midfield, Jones could bounce back for the rest of the campaign.

He is not out of competition in the England squad. He will be present there with Jacob Ramsey, Angel Gomes, and Oliver Skipp.

Career so far

Jones joined The Reds at the age of nine and is an academy graduate. Jurgen Klopp praised Jones during pre-season, ahead of the 2018-19 season for his mobility and dribbling skills.

Jones was named in the first team squad for Premier League match against Everton on April 7, 2018, but was an unused substitute.

He made his first-team debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the third round of the FA Cup on January 7, 2019.

He made his Premier League debut on 7 December 2019, from the substitute’s bench against AFC Bournemouth. Since then, he has made 52 senior team appearances in all competitions. He also signed a new long-term contract until June 2027.

Conclusion

Curtis is a very dynamic player and possesses good skills in midfield. Moreover, he has so many years to play football in his hands, so he can be considered as an asset for Liverpool in the future.
