Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has said that the team will not celebrate other teams’ results in the Premier League. This comes after Chelsea’s win against Newcastle while rivals Manchester City and Liverpool both failed to secure a win.
The Blues displayed yet another dominant performance against Newcastle United on Saturday. Even though Chelsea were missing strikers Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner along with midfielder Mason Mount, the team had no trouble in taking down the Magpies.
Tuchel takes Chelsea further in the league
The Blues have been on top form since Tuchel’s arrival. Even without their star players, the team is easily taking down every team. Newcastle United were no better.
After a dominant goalless first half, the London Giants bounced back with a bang. The teams right wing-back Reece James, scored 2 magnificent bangers back to back leaving the Magpies distorted. A late Jorginho penalty for a foul over Kai Havertz sealed the game 3-0.
Going further south, the day seemed to end in great sorrow as both Man City and Liverpool could not get their hands on victory.
Disappointing results at Anfield and Etihad
At Anfield, Liverpool ended the game with a draw against Brighton after going 2 goals up in the first half. On the other hand, Man City failed to go past Crystal Palace as the Eagles managed to score 2 against the title holders.
The results see Chelsea at the top of the table with a 3-points difference between second placed Liverpool.
However, Tuchel being happy with his teams result, had the following things to say: “We need to keep our feet on the ground. I am happy with the team effort today, we don’t celebrate other teams’ results.”
He further added, “You can lose in this league any match at any minute. So we focus on us and keep going. Let’s see where it goes, but it’s a long way.”
The manager’s response says enough about his preparedness. The 48-yrs-old German does not seem overconfident with his team and is ready for what’s to come.
