According to SkySports journalist Melissa Reddy, Southampton rejected Liverpool’s third bid for midfielder Romeo Lavia this summer.
After Fabinho’s exit last week, Reds are in a urgent need of a new defensive midfielder. Lavia has been identified as a potential replacement for the Brazilian.
However, Saints stands firm on their asking price of £50 million. They’re still waiting for a club to meet their potential valuation.
Journalist Melissa Reddy posted on his Twitter/X account that the third was around £46 million, however Southampton stands firm on their asking price. She wrote :-
“Liverpool understood to have made an improved offer for Romeo Lavia – their third – of around £46m which was also rejected by Southampton. Talks continue.

Times Reporter Paul Joyce also claims that Reds are yet to match Southampton’s valuation. He said :-
“Klopp has been boosted by the return to training of Thiago Alcântara and Stefan Bajcetic, both of whom missed the trip to Singapore, and their recovery is well timed with Liverpool facing problems in midfield.
“Two bids for Southampton’s Roméo Lavia have been rejected, the second of which reached £41 million but still fell short of the Championship club’s £50 million valuation of the 19-year-old.
“Lavia was a non-playing substitute against Sheffield Wednesday last Friday. Liverpool must decide whether to try again for the Belgium international. He is regarded by his club as the best young No 6 in the world.”
Before the new season unfolds, Liverpool need to sign atleast one midfielder this summer. There is a huge void left at the middle of the pitch for Reds and Lavia is the right man for the job.
However their latest approach shows that Liverpool are serious about the Belgian midfielder.
