Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand put his weight behind Manchester City for becoming next year’s champions. However, he was not totally convinced that Erling Haaland would prove to be a huge success.

City came down from a two-goal deficit to win 3-2 in the penultimate match of the tournament. By doing that, they successfully retained their title for the second year running. On the other hand, Liverpool came second just shy of City by a sole point.

Both these sides would come back stronger next season, with City already making an early transfer for Haaland. Moreover, Liverpool are also on the lookout for acquiring Aurelien Tchoumeni. Therefore, Liverpool too would eye for glory next season.

After Chelsea’s takeover process is completed, they are said to be going all guns in the transfer market. Antonio Conte is pressing Tottenham management to release funds for making transfers. Arsenal will get a boost despite finishing fifth this season. Moreover, United are going for a complete rebuilding of their team. Newcastle could up with a surprise if they spend big this summer. Still, Ferdinand feels that City would be the team to reckon with next season.

What did Rio Ferdinand actually say in his interview?

When asked about making an early prediction for next year’s Premier League: In his show Vibe with Five Youtube show, Ferdinand told,” It depends on Man United’s recruitment. Jokes! No, no, no.”

I’m going to go for City. I think they’ll get the three in a row they’re looking for. I think that will happen.”

But I think what Klopp’s done has been nothing short of remarkable, to come in and change that club around. Where they were is almost like where Man United are at now.”

Moreover, Ferdinand suggested that Haaland could struggle with Pep’s style of play.

He said,” Haaland isn’t coming to feet like that, Haaland wants the ball in and around the box or behind the other team so he can run onto it. I want to see how Pep does with that.”
