Manchester City

Pundit Gabby Agbonlahor suggests Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips should join Newcastle United in the January transfer window.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Agbonlahor claims Phillips doesn’t have a future at Manchester City. He joined Pep Guardiola’s side from Leeds United in the summer of 2022.

However, since joining the reigning Premier league champions, Phillips have struggled to showcase his real calibre. Since joining City, the 27-year-old have made only 16 appearances so far.

To be in the contention for Euro 2024, Phillips needs to more playing time at club level. Hence, Agbonlahor suggests that he should Newcastle United in January, as the Magpies are currently looking for a new midfielder.

Pundit claims Phillips needs to move out of Man City

Pundit Gabby Agbonlahor claims Kalvin Phillips should move of Manchester City for the same of his career. He said :-

“This is the biggest one in the Premier League, he has to go for the sake of his career.

“27 years old, he should be playing the best football of his career. Outstanding at Leeds, he has only made 16 appearances for City.

“That’s not enough. When you have got a player like Rodri, who is never injured, never really gets sent off apart from the one he got the other week, he is going to play most the games, Pep has shown that he doesn’t trust Phillips.

“So if I’m Phillips, I’m saying, let’s get this done. Get me to Newcastle.

“They have lost Tonali to a year ban, he walks into that Newcastle team and fits that defensive midfielder role at Newcastle.”

The amount of football he played during the last two campaigns showcases his life at Manchester. Phillips himself admitted that he might leave the club for a better opportunity somewhere else.

Hence, this presents a clear opportunity for Newcastle, as Phillips might improve their already strong XI.
