Former England international and now football pundit Paul Merson has warned Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp that the January transfer window signing Luis Diaz’s form may drop as the opposition teams will have clips of the forward to analyze his threat now.
Luis Diaz joined Liverpool towards the end of the January transfer window. The Columbian winger had been on fire this term for Portuguese club FC Porto. Since his switch to Anfield, Diaz has made seven appearances across all competitions. In this time he has recorded one goal. Despite not having the goal contributions that Liverpool faithful were hoping for. Diaz has still impressed the Liverpool faithful and has looked at home. (stats via Transfermarkt)
The winger looks like a player made for Jurgen Klopp‘s pressing system. Luiz Diaz also had a fantastic game against Chelsea in the EFL Cup final last week. He had some brilliant touches, made some great passes, and also showed off his technical excellence.
But according to Paul Merson, the winger will only prove his massive transfer fee if he continues to excel in the Premier League despite the opposition now knowing how to deal with his threat.

It’s Luis Diaz. “So it’s a different game for him now and this is where we are going to see what he’s made of. The top players carry it on. “He will be a marked man. I don’t mean in a vicious way but teams will adjust and try to stop him.”
