Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly going to sign midfielder Fabian Ruiz from Napoli. They are desperate to secure his services this summer.
The midfielder’s contract was going to expire next summer. Real Madrid were also reportedly interested in signing the midfielder.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Ligue 1 giants are going to sign midfielder Fabian Ruiz from Napoli. The reports also add that all the sides are hopeful of finding an agreement. Paris Saint-Germain football advisor Luis Ocampos is also a big fan of the midfielder. The transfer fee is expected to be around €25 million including add-ons.
PSG have already loaned out Georginio Wijnaldum to AS Roma until the end of the season. They are also expected to sell Paredes to Juventus before the window ends. Hence, the transfer of Fabian Ruiz makes sense. However, the transfer will be a big blow to Real Madrid. The La Liga giants were reportedly big admirers of the midfielder.
WHY WERE REAL MADRID INTERESTED IN THE MIDFIELDER?
According to reports, Real Madrid are big admirers of Fabian Ruiz. The report also states that they were going to try and sign him on a free transfer next season. However, it looks like Paris Saint-Germain have won the race for his signature. Real Madrid reportedly saw the 26-year-old midfielder as a long-term option for the veteran midfielder Luka Modric.
Although, it seems like the midfielder has been reportedly impressed by the project of French giants. It looks Carlo Ancelotti will have to identify different alternatives for the next season. The club have already spent big on Aurélien Tchouaméni this summer. So, it looks unlikely that they will try to hijack the bid of PSG to sign Fabian Ruiz.
Last season, Ruiz made 32 appearances for Naples in Serie-A. He scored seven goals and provided four assists. He also averaged over seven defensive actions per game. It looks like Paris Saint-Germain are signing a midfielder that can contribute offensively and defensively.
