Manchester United boss says Harry Maguire is doubtful for the Liverpool fixture

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed Harry Maguire has suffered a calf injury and said he would be out for the next few weeks. While the manager also said that the captain might be doubtful for the Liverpool fixture next month.

Maguire played the last match against Aston Villa where he was forced off the pitch in the 66th minute. While following Maguire and Luke shaw leaving the pitch, the red devils suffered a 1-0 defeat against Aston Villa. While later on Manchester United confirmed that Harry Maguire has suffered a calf injury but the time of his return was not revealed.

However, speaking in the post-match conference before the Villareal game, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said how much time Maguire might need to recover. He said, that Maguire will be out for the next few weeks. While missing out on Villareal and Everton clash this week. And the English defender will also miss out on international duty.

But Manchester United’s main concern about Harry Maguire is missing the Liverpool clash next month on 24th October. Solskjaer said that Maguire may be doubtful for the Liverpool fixture as the calf injury looks serious for the time being.

Now missing out on Harry Maguire, United will be using Victor Lindelof beside Raphael Varane in the center-back pairing. While Lindelof was the man who replaced Maguire in the Aston Villa game. The Swedish didn’t get much time this season as Varane was signed this summer. But now with Maguire injured he would look to impress United boss for game time.

What fixture will Harry Maguire probably miss for Manchester United?

As the English defender suffered a calf injury against Aston Villa on 25th September, it is clear that he would out for Villareal and Everton clash this week. While Maguire will surely be the Leicester City fixture next month on 16th September. And will miss another Champions League match which is against Atalanta on 21st October.

While with Solskjaer saying Maguire to be doubtful for the Liverpool clash he will miss that fixture also. And the last fixture of October is against Tottenham Hotspur which is another big game, and doubtful for Maguire. However, if he has a quick recovery then he could surely play against Tottenham Hotspur on 30th October.
