According to Fabrizio Romano, Matheus Nunes’ transfer to Man City is expected to be finalised within the next day or two.
The Cityzens have been attempting to acquire the Wolves midfielder, but the Midlands club turned down their initial bid of £47 million. With only three days left before the summer transfer window closes, a second offer has been made for the player. Fabrizio Romano has revealed the most recent insider information on the situation.
Fabrizio Romano claims, Man City want to finalise Nunes’ deal before the summer transfer window closes
In a recent episode of The Here We Go Podcast, Fabrizio Romano said the following regarding City’s pursuit of Nunes. He said
“I think they will not arrive on deadline day for the Matheus Nunes deal. This is not City’s style to be involved in deadline day so I think they will try to complete it later today or tomorrow but the agreement with Wolves is considered close.”
Fabrizio Romano further added
“The player didn’t train with Wolves to force this move to Man City. He agreed personal terms with City, so Matheus wants to go to Man City, this is very clear. The second bid was submitted on Sunday as I reported and the bid is in the region of €60m (£51m) plus add-ons, so this is the proposal from Man City. I see Matheus Nunes going to City.”
Fabrizio Romano revealed yesterday that the 24-year-old had reportedly refused to train with his current team on Sunday or Monday. Nunes wants to put pressure on the Old Gold to reach an agreement with Man City.
The midfielder joined Wolves in a £38 million deal from Sporting CP last summer. Nunes has made 41 appearances for the club in all competitions, including 34 in the previous Premier League season. This shows how crucial a player he is for Wolves.
It will be interesting to see whether Wolves hold firm in their valuation and run the risk of keeping a potentially disgruntled player whom they’ll have to discipline for missing training, or cash in before deadline day and look to spend the money they get for Nunes elsewhere. Both the player and Man City seem to want this deal to complete as quickly as possible.
