Liverpool was the “exceptional” player’s preferred destination, despite Manchester United’s interest

Despite the midfielder drawing interest from Manchester United during the transfer window, Ryan Gravenberch has always had his heart set on signing for Liverpool this summer.

The Athletic claims that Bayern Munich only changed their position on selling the Dutchman, 72 hours prior to the deadline.

The last acquisition for Liverpool during the window was Ryan Gravenberch. After having a rough time at Bayern, the 21-year-old joined the Reds for £34 million. Despite his difficulties, he was getting a lot of attention. Evidently, Liverpool were eager to acquire Gravenberch. However, Manchester United were also interested in him as they searched for a centre midfielder for themselves.

Despite Manchester United’s interest, Gravenberch had his sights set only on Liverpool

Gravenberch reportedly only had eyes for Liverpool, according to The Athletic. Before the deadline, Sofyan Amrabat would eventually join Erik ten Hag’s team.

According to The Athletic, several Liverpool employees have drawn comparisons between Gravenberch and Gini Wijnaldum. Prior to the switch, he spoke at length with Cody Gakpo and Virgil van Dijk.

Furthermore, it seems the youngster was quite intrigued in the chance to work with Jurgen Klopp. Klopp has already stated that Gravenberch has “exceptional” talent.

Liverpool deserve a lot of praise for how they ended the window. They lost a large number of midfielders who were crucial to the team in the past.

And it appears that the new guys have a lot of potential. Dominik Szoboszlai has gotten off to a great start in Merseyside. Additionally, Alexis Mac Allister already has Premier League experience.

Wataru Endo has the potential to be a fantastic signing for the Reds. Therefore, there is already a fascinating group in the middle of the park for Liverpool.

Gravenberch might need some time, given how little he really played for Bayern. However, it seems that both Liverpool and the player really believe that the transfer is the best possible outcome for everyone involved.
