Liverpool looking to sign Atalanta Star Giorgio Scalvini

Liverpool FC

After Van Dijk gets injured, Liverpool are could land up a move for Giorgio Scalvini from Atalanta. His recent exploits in Seria A have caught the attention of Jurgen Klopp.

According to reports in Italy, Inter Milan and Juventus are both having intrest in signing the young Italian defender.

Atalanta looks for a transfer fee in the region of £34m which looks quite steep for a teenager. But the player has all the qualities and skills to become a world-class defender in the future.

Liverpool are looking out of form this season and reinforcement in defence looks very necessary to end this season on a high note.

With a recent home draw against Chelsea preceded by defeats against Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford, Liverpool looks to fix the problem with new faces.

Scalvini can be a great addition for Liverpool’s Future

This season, the 19-year-old has shown great form for his Italian outfit, scoring twice and assisting once. Italian Journalist, Fabrizio Romano termed the player as ‘top talent‘.

As per reports, the three-cap international ranks among the top 1% of centre-backs in Europe’s top five leagues for the rate of goals and shot-creating actions, also in the top 5% for progressive passes and the top 11% for dribbles completed, illustrating the offensive impact he could bring on top of his innate defensive skills.

Klopp likely to ditch the Veteran Defender for Scalvini

If Liverpool makes the move for Scalvini, there will be a decrease in in-game time for Joël Matip.

Matip has made 180 appearances for Liverpool, winning the Premier League and the Champions League among other major honors, but is out of contract next summer.

Liverpool looks eager to instigate a move this year which might make Matip to move away from the club, next summer.

However, Scalvini can be a future star at Anfield
