Lewis Hamilton, to reverse the situation at Mercedes?

Lewis Hamilton Toto Wolff

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton is 35 points behind his teammate George Russel with 6 more races to go.

This has been a season to forget for Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton so far. The 8-time constructors’ champions were not able to cope with the new regulations and failed to make a title-contending car.

Furthermore, 7-time world champion Lewis Hamilton also failed miserably to adapt to the new regulations.

W13 at the start of the season was not competitive enough. This is something Lewis Hamilton is not used to as the Briton has had a fast car for the past 8 seasons in a row.

Nevertheless, as the season progressed both W13 and Hamilton started to perform better.

But still, the 37-year-old is 35 points behind his teammate George Russell. Russell has performed better than Hamilton so far and can be one of the very few to defeat Hamilton as his teammate.

The only two other drivers who defeated Hamilton in the Championship standings are Jenson Button and Nico Rosberg.

Emerson Fittipaldi hopes for a close battle between Hamilton and Russell

Emerson Fittipaldi feels that the battle between the two Britons will go down the wire. Hamilton has lately gained that form back but still stands 35 points behind Russell.

“I think it’ll be great to see how they do against each other,”

Fittipaldi told VegasInsider.

“I could see at the beginning of the season, Lewis was taking more time to adapt to the new rules.

“But recently he has improved his performance and adapted. The Mercedes car is better now. He reversed the situation. It will be tough between both. Hamilton has always been extremely talented and is a great champion.

“And George Russell, trying to be there. He’s the challenger. It’ll be great to watch.”

Lewis Hamilton has never gone without a win in any of the Formula 1 seasons he has taken part in as a full-time permanent driver. Can he keep his record, or will the Briton’s streak finally break?
