According to reports, there is no contractual agreement between the goalkeeper and French club Nice. The report states that they are also yet to agree a fee with the Foxes for the goalkeeper. However, Schmeichel does want to leave Leicester City this summer. The report does say that the Premier League club will likely command a smaller fee for the 36-year-old.

The Dane international has only one year left on his contract. These all factors will dramatically lower his price tag as he looks to leave Leicester this summer. The club are also open to selling him this summer. Nice are also very keen on the player. They want the goalkeeper as soon as possible. However, a number of problems need to be solved to complete Schmeichel’s exit from the club.

THE CLUB ARE FINDING IT DIFFICULT TO FIND A REPLACEMENT FOR KASPER SCHMEICHEL

There are big problems for the foxes existing. The problem is they are finding it difficult to find a replacement for the 36-year-old. Another problem is his deputy Danny Ward is still injured. He is yet to feature this pre-season. The other problem is the club are finding it difficult to sign a player. Leicester City are the only club that have not signed a player this summer.

This is due to the financial fair play regulations. The club’s player wage ratio to the income is very high. This means they need to sell players for big fees to buy. Daniel Iversen is currently their goalkeeper for the pre-season after a successful loan at Preston North End. However. Brendan Rodgers still wants a goalkeeper that knows the Premier League so well to replace Kasper.

Although, the season is set to start within 10 days with the visit of Brentford on August 7. So, it is unclear who will start between the sticks for City on that day. However, Danny Ward might get his start as he has proved for Wales national team by saving penalties to help them qualify for the World Cup in Qatar.
