Jadon Sancho takes involuntary leave from the England national squad

Manchester United

Manchester United attacker Jadon Sancho is forced to withdraw from England’s September World Cup qualifiers through injury.

The 21-year-old nked up with the Three Lions for the international break but was ruled out of the recent 4-0 thrashing of Hungary due to what was described as a “minor knock” by Gareth Southgate.

However, the injury has ruled him out from the England national squad for the upcoming clashes with Poland or Andorra. But the attacker is expected to recover in time for the resumption of the Premier League.

A statement by the FA read: “Jadon Sancho will play no part in England’s forthcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Poland. The forward picked up a minor knock in training earlier this week which ruled him out of the 4-0 victory in Hungary.

“Following further assessment, the 21-year-old is returning to his club. He is expecting to recover in time for Manchester United’s fixture with Newcastle United on Saturday 11 September.

“Gareth Southgate now has a 23-man squad at his disposal for Sunday’s match against Andorra at Wembley Stadium connected by EE (5pm kick-off).”

Will Jadon Sancho be able to come back before the Premier League’s restart or not?

Despite Sancho’s withdrawal, Southgate is expecting to shuffle the attacking pack for Sunday’s visit of Andorra. With Bukayo Saka, Jesse Lingard and Patrick Bamford all vying for starts.

Jadon Sancho has featured in all three of United’s opening Premier League games this season. But is still waiting for his first goal contribution under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Sancho made his Reds debut against Southampton from the bench. And made his full debut in United’s 1-0 win over Wolves.

Sancho’s knock is the latest setback in his fledgling United career in the £72.9 million transfer from Borussia Dortmund.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is revealing Sancho is been feeling ‘a little sick’. Although he has overcome that illness now.

Sancho has scored 16 goals and provided 20 assists for Dortmund last season. He’s yet to record a goal contribution for United.
