Is Arsenal planning a bold move for Sane?

Arsenal is said to be keen on signing Sane from Bayern Munich. The German winger has become a prime target at the Premier League club due to them looking to strengthen their attack. Arsenal remains keen on stealing Sane on a free transfer, as Sport Bild journalist Tobi Altschäffl claims that move could change the shape of the summer transfer window.

I think it depends on what Bayern Munich will be offering—something will have to happen when he leaves—and opinions are split on this. And while sporting director Max Eberl is a big supporter, others are not; not everyone appreciates the idea. The club is struggling to extend Sane’s contract because he is inconsistent. Bayern’s management might decide to release this tug-of-war and let Arsenal and others make a move.

Why Arsenal Wants Sane

Arsenal’s wings do need a bit of spice, to be honest. The left side needs a bit of magic, too, while Bukayo Saka is dazzling on the right. And then comes Sane, on his best day, a nightmare for defenders. Mikel Arteta’s side could do with a signing like him; he’s blazing fast, and he can glide inside and fire rockets with his left foot.

Arsenal’s interest is no frivolous whim. It makes perfect financial sense for them to eye Sane as a free transfer opportunity. For instance, the Gunners could land a world-class winger without spending a penny and with his contract situation at Bayern Munich hanging in the balance, that would indeed be something.

Bayern Munich’s Winger Dilemma

The Sane situation is a complicated one for Bayern as it is a reality show love triangle. Sane’s chances of staying rise if Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry are sold, but too late. By then, Bayern will have figured out their squad and looked to exploit Arsenal’s willingness to clear out deadwood with a surprisingly tempting offer.

It’s Sane’s inconsistency that has turned Bayern’s attitude against him. Flashes of brilliance don’t always prompt some at the club to believe he has not lived up to expectations. However, Max Eberl himself is fighting for a breakthrough as he remains supported by his cause.
