Harry Winks is to be let off by Tottenham for just £15million

Tottenham Hotspur

The Sunday People reported that Tottenham could sell Harry winks for a mere £15million. They also reported that both Southampton and Newcastle United have both showed interest in the player.

However, it would not be a major surprise to see Winks leaving the Spurs this season. The 26-year-old barely got starts at the end of the season. He was not able to play the full 90 minutes as well.

The last time he played a full game was back in February in the Premier League. Rodrigo Bentancur had formed a wonderful duo with Emile Hojbjerg at midfield. Moreover, Conte would like to have Oliver Skipp back in the fold next season. Recent reports also claimed that Tottenham reportedly wants £25million for the youngster. However, with recent developments, it is thought that they may actually let him leave at a cheaper price.

Is it the right decision for Tottenham to let Harry Winks go?

Winks is thought to be a smart signing for any club which signs him. £15m could be a very good bargain for him. Moreover, he has never had the start that he might have desired at Tottenham. He did not get the recognition that he might have deserved at Spurs.

However, he has played 200 matches in a Spurs shirt and even played in the national team. Mauricio Pocchetino during his tenure had described him to be an ‘amazing’ player. Moreover, it would be not a wise decision on the part of Winks to stay at Spurs. He is not going to get to play regularly unless a lot of players get injured.

It is presumed that Tottenham might want more for their academy graduate. However, setting a price of £15m might attract other clubs’ attention. This should be a profitable boost for the Spurs’ treasury. Moreover, Winks could finally take the next step in his career.
