Gary Neville shares what he feels about how Tottenham defender would have been greeted in dressing room

Tottenham Hotspur

Gary Neville hopes Tottenham defender Cristian Romero would have been questioned by Ange Postecoglou in dressing room. Former Manchester United man Neville shared his views after the game of Tottenham against Chelsea. The north London club was flying high throughout this Premier League season. Moreover, they were in control during the first 15 minutes of the game as well. Dejan Kulusevski opened the scoring within 6 minutes for Tottenham. A goal from Heung Min Son was ruled out by VAR as well. However, as soon as Chelsea Began to grow in the game, a careless challenge from Romero saw Spurs falling down to 10-men. Besides this, Destiny Udogie was also sent off later in the 55th minute. Tottenham eventually lost 4-1 owing to a hat-trick from Nikolas Jackson for the Blues in second half.

Neville shares his opinion on the atmosphere of dressing room at Tottenham

Speaking on Gary Neville podcast, the pundit told what he thinks happened to Romero and Udogie after the game. He said,

“Romero, it’s the fourth time he’s been sent off so I think Postecoglou needs to go into the dressing room and question the composure and thought process of his two players.

I got sent off at times. And at times I thought ‘Gary you have let yourself down and your teammates down’. I would have owned that.

I am hoping that Udogie and Romero and the rest of the Tottenham players and squad are not thinking we have been hard done to, we have been done by the referee and VAR.

No, you’re not, you have been done tonight by your own stupidity. You were special in the first 15 minutes, your football was brilliant.”

However, the Australian manager backed his vice-captain and said he is a “world-class” defender. Though, he will surely be disappointed with the Argentine for his foolish defending. Moreover, Romero must improve his decision-making skills if he wants to be the vice-captain in near future as well.
