Premier League side Fulham completed their second transfer of this summer. After signing former Tottenham Hotspur player Ryan Sessegnon on a free transfer, Fulham have now just completed the signing of English international Emile Smith Rowe from Arsenal. Fulham completed the move for a club record signing for a transfer fee of close to 30M. The initial transfer is 27M but it could rise to 35M in the future, as per sources.

Emile Smith Rowe’s time at the Emirates

Emile Smith Rowe was an Arsenal academy graduate. The 24-year-old midfielder joined the Gunners at the age of 10. Since then Smith Rowe has developed in the Arsenal academy before making his senior team debut with the Gunners in 2018. He also spent two loan spells with RB Leipzig and Huddersfield in the 2018/18 and 2019/20 seasons respectively. After returning from the loan spell with Huddersfield, Emile Smith Rowe remained with the Gunners and since 2020 the 24-year-old continuously making appearances for Arsenal.

It was a good start for Emile Smith Rowe under the new boss Mikel Arteta, when the Spaniard joined Arsenal in 2019. In the 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons, Smith Rowe made a total of 70 appearances for the Gunners, bagged 15 goals and registered 9 assists. Smith Rowe also played for the England national team, appearing 3 times for the Three Lions.

But the 24-year-old was kind of left out in the past two seasons, making only 44 appearances in two seasons. With the advent of high-profile midfielder players such as Thomas Partey and Declan Rice, Smith Rowe’s playing time under Arteta is getting lower. In his last 25 appearances in the Premier League, the midfielder only started 3 games for the Gunners in the Premier League. So, a move to a new club was inevitable. That’s why Emile Smith Rowe chose Fulham for his next home.
