Kevin De Bruyne is set to return for Man City against Leicester

Kevin De Bruyne is reportedly winning his battle to be fit for Manchester City‘s next Premier League match against Leicester City on Saturday afternoon.

The Belgium international has been struggling with an ankle problem in the early stages of the 2021-22 campaign. He has just played 11 minutes of Premier League football so far.

However, according to the Daily Mail, De Bruyne has been taking part in full training sessions with the Citizens this week. Therefore in line to make his return against Leicester at the King Power Stadium.

The report claims that head coach Pep Guardiola will make a late decision on the 30-year-old’s involvement. With the Spaniard not prepared to take any risks when it comes to the attacker.

De Bruyne picked up the ankle issue while representing Belgium at Euro 2020. He has missed the recent victories over Norwich City and Arsenal in the Premier League.

The attacker was in excellent form for the English champions last term. He scored 10 times and had 18 assists to his name in 40 appearances in all competitions last year.

Alongside England international Phil Foden, Manchester City’s Kevin de Bruyne has been spotted back on the training pitches at the City Football Academy – suggesting that the Belgium international is well on his way to a return to match action.

There have been suggestions this week that both Foden and De Bruyne could return to the bench for Pep Guardiola’s side against Leicester City on Saturday afternoon, however, it remains highly unlikely that they will start the game at the King Power Stadium.

While De Bruyne has been absent from the past two game weeks. Where Manchester City have won 5-0 in successive Premier League games against Norwich City and Arsenal. A new video has released by the club on social media has provided fans with an encouraging update on the player’s recovery.
