Kai Havertz has been in sensational form for Chelsea in recent matches as the Blues are looking to turn around their season.
The Chelsea hierarchy reportedly wants to keep Havertz in the future at the club. The German stood out for Potter’s side in the last three matches as the former Brighton manager was under lots of pressure. But three consecutive victories have lifted the atmosphere at the club.
Havertz scored two crucial goals for Chelsea in the last two matches. The German Forward scored the penalty kick which secured Chelsea Quarter Final Spot in the Champions League. His current contract expires in 2025, meaning the club will need to make a decision soon on his long-term future.
Journalist Simon Phillips also reported that the Chelsea board will like to extend his contract before he reaches its final stages. Phillips told GiveMeSports:-
“Potter has continued to back Kai Havertz, continued to pick him, even in his poor form, and Havertz has appreciated that. The hierarchy, the Chelsea board, they’ve always seen something in Havertz and they’ve been desperate to see that come out.”
Havertz have recently opened up about his recent struggle at Chelsea. He struggled under Potter at the start of this season. The German international shared his thought:-
“Football is our life. If you lose a game, of course, you don’t have an easy life,”
“I think everyone at home, especially my girlfriend, has had some tough weeks as well the last weeks and months.
“I think she is happy now again, and so am I. If you have a bad day at work… you… I won’t say the word now, but you don’t feel good. Football is a game where we have a lot of pressure on our shoulders.
“We want to make the fans happy, and if you don’t make them happy, then you don’t have a good time. Winning is always the best. We won again, so we can enjoy some days.”
