Former Arsenal and English midfielder turned pundit Paul Merson think that Manchester United should have given Chelsea manager Graham Potter a chance instead of going after Erik Ten Hag. Graham Potter will succeed Thomas Tuchel as the new Chelsea boss at Stamford Bridge. The Englishman is considered the best English coach in the Premier League currently. This is due to his brilliant and consistent performance with Brighton for the last three years.
Currently, Brighton are fourth in the league. They have had four wins, one draw, and one defeat including a 2-1 win over United at Old Trafford. Merson thinks that Manchester United, not Chelsea, should have appointed Potter instead of Ten Hag. He told Sky Sports (via Metro)
“I like Potter. I think he is a good manager. Apart from Manchester City, the best team I saw at Stamford Bridge playing Chelsea last season was Brighton. They were unbelievable. Potter makes teams better. He improves players.”
He also said:
“But is that the job at Chelsea? I think he could have got the Man United job. There are more youngsters at Man United and it needs a bit of rebuilding. What needs rebuilding at Chelsea? Every player is a £50m player.”

Writing for Sportskeeda, Paul Merson, who is a big fan of Graham Potter believes that Manchester United should have snapped him up when they had the chance. However, Merson added that now that Potter is going to take the reins at Chelsea, it’ll be interesting to see how that turns out. Merson said:
