The competition will take place in the upcoming summer. The format of the same has also changed. In its early days, the tournament would take place annually in December. But now it would be taking place in summer every four years. As per wikipedia, the format will be same as of the FIFA World Cup. 32 teams will be divided into 8 groups of 4. First and second-placed teams would go into the knockout stages. Although there will be no third-place qualification.
