Carlos Sainz has taken his time to appreciate and highlight one crucial sponsor that has helped Ferrari a lot.
Ferrari came to the 2022 season in a hope of redemption season. The car was well designed for that purpose only. However, after a few opening races, it all went downhill.
Nevertheless, the 2022 season was an improvement considering the last two seasons of Ferrari.
One of the important factors for a motorsport team is sponsors. Ferrari and shell are working together since the early 1930s. The automaker and the fuel supplier have the longest partnership in motorsports history.
Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz was also on spot recognizing the contributions of the old sponsor.
The new fuel
The 2022 season came in with many new regulations. Most noticeable were the new aerodynamic designs. However, one more major thing that changed was the fuel. This season FIA introduced the new 10% bioethanol fuel. Every team had to race with this new fuel; similarly, it was an added challenge for all the fuel suppliers.
“This season it was mandatory to race with 10% bio ethanol fuel,”
Sainz highlighted the challenge Shell faced during the season start in Bahrain.
“Looking at this season, I think it gave us an advantage that Shell is so strong with creating the fuel with 10% bio ethanol. They have experience with it and have worked hard in recent years to create the highest quality version. Because they have created an excellent product, as a driver the difference from last year was not noticeable. This is because they have worked hard in the last few years on the project with 10% bio ethanol and they will do the same with creating the 100% sustainable fuel in 2026.”
Ferrari is undergoing a massive leadership change and it will be interesting to see how the prancing horse performs next season.
