Brendan Rodgers frustrated with Leicester transfer activity

Leicester City

Brendan Rodgers recently talked about the state of transfers at Leicester. They have only signed a third-choice goalkeeper so far, and fans are not happy.

The Nothern Irishman did state that the club is trying its best to recruit new players. However, their financial problems and FFP regulations have made life hard for them. Moreover, stars like Wesley Fofana, Youri Tielemens and James Maddison continue to be linked with a move away.

The Foxes have not made a good start in the league either. They have squandered two leads now, and also bowed down to Arsenal. Rodgers will hope that the situation is resolved soon.

What Rodgers Had To Say

Brendan Rodgers stated that the club is actively trying to get new faces in. But it remains to be a tough job.

Communication has always been very open between myself and the board. When I spoke in February, it was clear we wanted to improve the squad. Towards the end of the season, it was clear there were going to be issues around that but still we go into the summer with the idea to improve.

Over the course of the summer, I was still speaking with players we wanted to sign. Our recruitment team had done some great work and we were very clear on the positions we wanted to improve, and all that was going forward.

However, Rodgers also stated that he is content at the moment. He has a contract till 2025 and is not in the mood to leave.

What I know is that I’ve got a group of players that are so keen to learn. I love working with them. It’s the longest I’ve ever been at a club, which tells you how much I love working with the players here and being involved with the football club

The people I feel for at the minute for the supporters. Every single season, supporters travel to pre-season games and it’s great to be able to see two, three, four new players, how they’re getting on, and that builds the expectation and excitement for the season. For them, for this season, I really feel for them. That’s the honesty of it. They’ve had no one new to look at.
