Although, only traveling with the first team will benefit them in the long term. When they travel, they get to chat with the senior players. These senior players have years of experience that they can pass on to these academy players.
This also shows that Mikel Arteta is closely monitoring the highly-rated academy players. The player that particularly caught the eye were highly-rated Brazilian left-back Lino Sousa. They signed him from West Brom in the last January transfer window. Hence, since then he has traveled several times with the first team. A number of Arsenal sources have claimed that Mikel Arteta was impressed with the training performance of Lino Sousa.
Hence, Lino Sousa will also have the chance to impress Arteta during the Dubai camp training sessions. Arsenal are also going to take several other academy players for the Dubai camp. These players have the potential to save a large amount of money in transfer fees if they perform well.
