Official! Ansu Fati signed a new six-year deal with FC Barcelona yesterday. The young boy will be a Barcelona player till 2027.

Rumours about Fati’s exit were in the air, with the player facing financial problems. The 18-years-old Catalan was linked with moves to Manchester United and Manchester City, while negotiations with Barca were ongoing.

Fati is now the second Barcelona player to agree on a new deal with a €1bn release clause, following in the footsteps of Pedri.

Can Fati replace Messi at Barcelona?

After Lionel Messi’s shocking exit from Barca was finalized, the no.10 jersey was left vacant. Fati’s shoulders were trusted with the number and the weight of its legacy. He was considered to be a suitable replacement for the GOAT.

Nobody can do what Messi did at Barca, but Fati seems to be on the right track. From being Barca’s youngest La Liga scorer to the youngest Champions League scorer, Ansu has already broken 14 records.

Since his senior debut in 2019, Fati has had 48 appearances with 16 goals and 3 assists. His return from a long term injury with a goal left everyone open-mouthed, believing that his comeback wouldn’t be so clinical.

Although Fati, at the moment, is nowhere near his competitions like Jude Bellingham and Pedri, he seems to be the super-sub Barca needs from time to time to change the outcome of their games.

Barca’s promising young talents could bring them back to top

While the club’s managerial situation remains dicey, Ronald Koeman seems to be having no promising outlook except for his overconfidence. Shockingly, the Barca board seems to trust the manager with club president Joan Laporta stating that he has faith in Koeman as he’s a club legend

With the Spanish club undergoing a period of transition, a lot of trust is being put on their youth. The fans love Pedri, Gavi and Fati and believe that their intensity, matched with the experiences of other senior players, could be the golden chance Barca needs to compete with their rivals, Real Madrid.
