A picturesque midfield duo- at Arsenal, soon?

Arsenal FC

Manchester Evening News reports that Arsenal is interested in signing Ruben Neves.

Neves who currently plays at Wolves is a magnificent player. Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville, had also described him to be ‘sensational’. However, the eye-catching part of his game is his long-range shooting.

The Portuguese has been in the news for scoring world-class goals for the Wolves. His goal against Derby in 2018 is probably the best goal ever scored in the history of EFL. Moreover, last year he had scored more goals from outside the box than he had touched in the penalty box.

Neves has certainly a gift for scoring long-range screamers. However, another player who can be an able competitor to him is Granit Xhaka.

He, too loves scoring long-distance goals. Most recently, he was among a similar sort of goal-scoring against Manchester United. Arsenal won that match 3-1.

Moreover, no other player has scored more goals from further than 28 meters than Xhaka in the Premier League in the last five years.

How profitable would be signing Neves for Arsenal?

If Arsenal sign Neves this summer- how well Neves and Xhaka bond in the midfield is doubtable. Moreover, Thomas Partey would be a much better option in midfield than these two. This is because of his overall contributions.

Moreover, Xhaka has been spending a good time at Arsenal. Also, his relationship with Arteta seems to be good and his problems with spectators are more than over, it seems.

In recent weeks, Xhaka has been in good form. Though he does not have the captain’s armband now, he has been getting regular calls into the first team.

However, if Arsenal were to put these two midfielders next summer, it would be a delight for the spectators. They would, obviously, make headlines for their long-range shooting.

One, however, cannot leave but watch them scoring finessed long-distance goals.
