The Metropolitan Police have arrested a Premier League football player. Reports say that a woman in her 20s accused him of rape.
Due to the libel laws in England, the identity of the player cannot be revealed. The media can reveal a name only when the police have formally charged them.
However, some outlets have revealed some details. He is apparently 29-years-old, and someone who would be going to the World Cup later this season. The player also lives in North London.
Six police cars arrived at the Premier League football player’s North London mansion at three in the morning on Tuesday to take him into arrest. He was asleep at the time.
In a statement to the public, the Metropolitan Police has revealed some details about the case. Apparently, this is not the player’s first offense, which is quite damning.
“On 4 July, an allegation of rape of a woman in her 20s was reported to the police. It was reported the alleged rape happened in June 2022. On 4 July, a 29-year-old man was arrested at an address in Barnet on suspicion of rape and taken into custody. While in custody, he was further arrested on suspicion of two incidents of rape that were alleged to have been committed in April and June of 2021 against a different woman in her 20s. Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing”
Premier League To Take Action?
Most clubs are starting their pre-season tours right now. The list of players at their club can narrow down the list of potential offenders. With the start of the upcoming Premier League season on August 5, it is unknown if the player would participate in the preseason schedule of games.
