Paul Merson is getting Leicester City’s title-winning season vibes at Arsenal

Arsenal FC

Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson says that he is getting Leicester City’s title-winning energy from Arsenal this season.

Paul Merson said,

I have the same vibes as I had with Leicester with Arsenal. Everybody is expecting a collapse, but so far it isn’t coming. At the moment, I get the same feelings about Arsenal as I did when Leicester won the title. I know Leicester were massive outsiders but there was always a feeling that they would get caught in the end. “

Arsenal top the Premier League with 69 points, 8 points clear of City having played a game extra. With 10 games to go, it is Arsenal’s title to lose.

The Magical Leicester City’s Campaign compared to Arsenal according to Paul Merson

Former Arsenal Player, Paul Merson believes that Arsenal is going to create history just like Leicester City. Whereas many pundits disagree with him because Arsenal is here for the long run. Leicester City won the title and then dipped whereas Arsenal are here to stay at the top for many years to cup.

Leicester City 2015/16 seasons, a relatively small club with a modest budget, defied all odds by winning the Premier League title. They won one of the most prestigious and competitive football leagues in the world.

Leicester City and Arsenal similarities

At the beginning of the season, Leicester City was widely expected to be relegated to a lower division. They stunned everyone by winning their first three games of the season. Despite a few bumps in the road, they continued to play exceptional football, with Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez leading the way as top goal-scorers. Arsenal have found their own Vardy and Mahrez in Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.

Their success was also due to the tactical genius of their manager, Claudio Ranieri, who instilled a winning mentality in the team and led them to victory. Mikel Arteta also hopes to do a Ranieri this season. Paul Merson believes that Arsenal and Leicester City’s ambitions changed as the season progressed. Arsenal’s main aim was top 4 to secure the champions league football next season. However, their ambitions grew as the season progressed.
