Newcastle United have offered Sven Botman a five-year deal after agreeing a £35m fee with Lille for the centre-back. This is according to a report from the Italian media.

SVEN BOTMAN- NEWCASTLE UNITED SAGA FULL STORY.

Newcastle United have been interested in Sven Botman since the January transfer window. Lille were not interested in selling Botman to any team in January. This was due to their participation in the Uefa Champions League. But now it looks 100% that the Dutch defender won’t stay at Lille. In the summer window, it was looking like A.C Milan were leading the race to sign the highly-rated young defender. But reports claimed that they had struggled to agree on a fee for the young Dutch defender. Several Premier League sides have registered an interest in the Dutchman. However, reports suggest that Newcastle feel they are well placed to sign Botman.

WHAT IS THE HOLD-UP IF EVERYTHING IS AGREED UPON?

Tuttomercatoweb, an Italian website is reporting that Newcastle have also agreed on the pay structure of the deal with Lille. They plan to pay £14.5 million upfront. Meanwhile, the remaining amount will be paid over four years. Newcastle have also offered Botman a five-year contract. Lille are seemingly happy with the deal. But the report says Botman is not yet convinced about moving to St James Park. But one thing, Botman has to surely appreciate is the time and money they are putting into the deal. Milan is his first choice due to Champions League and Maldini calling him a great player. But at some stage, he will surely get frustrated with not agreeing on a deal. Whereas, Newcastle have offered him a long-term contract and have agreed on a fee with Lille.

If Milan somehow agrees on a fee and signs Botman, it will be surely disappointing for Newcastle. But the positive, the Magpies can take from this is they put everything in their power to lure Botman to Tyneside. If this offer does not work, they can focus their attention on other defenders and move on from this deal.
