While many clubs started their pre-season training and their respective players already reported back to the club, Thomas Muller is still on vacation mode. However, he will make himself available for the Munich club in a few days’ time.
Both the Deutschland giants, namely Bayern Munich and BVB Dortmund made numerous changes to their squad for next season. Through all these movements in and out of the club, Muller is someone constant for the Allianz Arena outfit. He is someone who saw all these ‘chop and change’ over the years. Currently, the 2014 World Cup winner is enjoying his vacation and will soon join his club for pre-season. Muller said:
“In my job I don’t get many opportunities to catch my breath. That’s why it’s something special and I’m making the most of the time. If I think about it, holidays have different phases for me. On the one hand, working through things that I put off before me. Then maybe a few thoughts on the future. However, I spend most of my time switching off and enjoying myself. For example, when playing golf.”
Also, both Bayern and BVB Dortmund are quite active in the transfer market and added necessary players to their squad. Their exploits haven’t gone unnoticed by Thomas Muller. He also commented on his club’s and their rival’s transfer business this summer. He said:
“So far, the ball hasn’t really wanted to go the way I wanted, but basically we get along well. Of course, I’m following closely what’s going on in club football during the summer break. Bayern have already strengthened their squad with three newcomers. A lot has happened in our national competition as well.”
Dortmund spent around €80 million this summer. With that money they bought Sebastian Haller from Ajax, Karim Adeyemi from RB Salzburg, and center-back duo Nico Schlotterbeck and Niklas Süle from SC Freiburg and Bayern respectively.
Meanwhile, the defending Bundesliga champions bought Ajax players Noussair Mazraoui and Ryan Gravenberch as well as Sadio Mane from Liverpool for an aggregate fee of €50 million.
