Manchester United: Jesse Lingard on his way to West Ham

Manchester United

Manchester United have dropped Jesse Lingard’s price tag to boost West Ham’s transfer hopes. Jesse Lingard spent half of the last season away from Manchester United. The attacker scored nine goals in sixteen appearances for the hammers’. During his spell at West Ham he was one of the best players in the Premier League.

According to the Daily Express, Manchester United have dropped the asking price to around £20million. The Sun has also reported that United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is very confident that Paul Pogba will sign a new contract. The recent acquisition of Jadon Sancho and his France teammate Raphael Varane has made Pogba change his mind about leaving Old Trafford.

In a recent press conference, Solskjaer suggested Jesse would remain at Manchester. But it’s no surprise that West Ham boss David Moyes wants to re-sign the 28-year-old attacker. Meanwhile, Stuart Pearce a member of David Moyes’ coaching staff revealed that “the ball is in Manchester United’s court”.

Will Jesse Lingard leave Manchester United?

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that Jesse Lingard is part of his plans at Manchester United. United have a stacked midfield with stars Bruno Fernandes and Donny Van de Beek playing in the attacking midfield position. Since United play a double pivot on the midfield it’s very unlikely that Fred and McTominay will be replaced in that role. In the absence of Marcus Rashford, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been playing Paul Pogba on the left.

Moreover, Bruno Fernandes is not a creative midfielder he is a proven goal scorer. He plays as the second striker behind the number ‘9’. On the other hand, Jesse Lingard isn’t a second striker be tends to stick to his attacking midfield position. Unlike Bruno, he prefers moving into the winger position. To sum up, Jesse Lingard could be sold since he has lost his place in the first team.
