Liverpool look to sign Lavia in an attempt to hijack the bid from Arsenal

Liverpool FC

Liverpool have initiated talks to sign Romeo Lavia from Arsenal’s radar, aiming to hijack the Gunners’ bid for the midfielder. Arsenal, focused on other deals, have not yet made an official offer for Lavia, while Liverpool has engaged in discussions. Klopp is trying to close out the deal soon.

Nice’s Khephren Thuram is also a target for Liverpool as they seek to revamp their midfield. Lavia is valued at a minimum of £40m. With Liverpool’s potential additions, they could complete their midfield rebuild for around £109.3m, as per Fabrizio Romano. Manchester United and Chelsea are not currently seen as major competitors for Lavia’s signature though, despite their interest.

Liverpool can pursuit Lavia despite other clubs trying

Liverpool has emerged as a contender to sign Romeo Lavia, despite Man United, Chelsea and Arsenal trying to sign him. However, Liverpool’s pursuit of Lavia is substantial, with the club also considering a move for Khephren Thuram. Klopp is really trying to bolster his midfield options

Interestingly, Manchester City, who inserted a buy-back clause and a sell-on clause in Lavia’s previous transfer to Southampton, could benefit from his potential move. But that clause will not become active until 202, hence other clubs signing him now would make that clause null.

Many of these Premier League behemoths are looking to rebuild their midfields this summer. With uncertainties of Xhaka and Partey for Arsenal, they are looking to be on the driver seat for Lavia but with Liverpool in the race, this might get interesting.

Fans of both the clubs are eagerly waiting to see the outcome of this race to sign the talented midfielder. Midfield is an area of problem for Liverpool for the whole of last season due to which they failed to qualify for the Champions League spots. Now, they don’t want to make any mistakes and try to be as competitive in the market so as to attract top talent from Europe. Timing of the deal is going to be critical for Liverpool as they can put pressure on Arsenal now as the Gunners are busy with other deals.
