In a good development for Tottenham Hotspur, their target Alessandro Bastoni has informed Inter Milan that he wishes to join the North London outfit. The 23-year-old was an integral part of Antonio Conte’s 2020/21 title-winning squad.
He is a fantastic defender who in addition to his defensive prowess, can add a lot in the build-up phase. Conte certainly values that and has made him his main target. Bastoni has been a regular in Simone Inzaghi’s squad as well, playing 31 games in the league.
Sporting Director Fabio Paraticci has frequented the Serie market for new additions to Tottenham. Cristian Romero, Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur have been superb signings so far for the Lilywhites. The fans will hope that Bastoni can join that group soon.
Inter Milan may be forced their hand here. They are in financial trouble and would need to make a big sale to balance their books. With a deal for Torino’s Glieson Bremer in the pipeline, they are looking to cash in on Bastoni.
What Is The Stance of Bastoni?
Tottenham have already signed a player from Inter Milan. Ivan Perisic was an early signing on a free transfer after his deal with the Nezzurzari came to an end. Perisic and Bastoni formed a formidable partnership on the left side of the defence at the San Siro. Conte would certainly love to replicate that at N17.
Bastoni is a childhood Inter Milan fan, and it will certainly be a tough move for him. He helped his club to end a 10-year league drought, and now he suddenly has to leave. But Inter Milan’s position has perhaps left him helpless.
A reunion with Antonio Conte on the other hand can be a temptation. The Italians certainly share a great connection and would be looking forward to running it back in the Premier League.
