However, Mikel Arteta has made him a priority target for the January transfer window. Although, the winger’s first priority is to sign a new contract with the La Liga giants.

According to reports, Arsenal will try to sign Real Madrid winger Marco Asensio in the January transfer window. At the moment, his contract with the La Liga giants ends in the next summer transfer window. Hence, it looks like the Gunners will try to sign for a cheaper deal. However, the position of Real Madrid on selling the player is not clear. Although, the report also claims that they will consider 30-35 million bids for the Spanish winger.
Marco Asensio is currently with the national team at the World Cup. Hence, all the decisions are expected to be taken after the World Cup. The report claims that Mikel Arteta has sanctioned the signing. Hence, it looks like Arsenal are looking at Asensio as an alternative to Mykhaylo Mudryk. However, discussions are yet to start over personal terms and the transfer fee. A report also claims that the Gunners will have one more problem to solve to secure the potential transfer.
THE SPANISH WINGER WANTS TO EXTEND HIS STAY WITH REAL MADRID
Marco Asensio has said that his first preference is to stay at Real Madrid. He further said,
“Do I want to renew? Hopefully it can happen and I’ll be very happy at Real Madrid for many years, hopefully everything will work out so I can stay for 10 more years. There is talk that I am changing Real Madrid’s mind. But I have always tried to give the best that I have within me, and then later on people will know about it. The one who decides, too, is the club, it does not only depend on me. After the World Cup, we’ll both make a decision.”
Hence, this proves that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will have to try hard to convince him to join the Premier League giants. Juventus and AC Milan are also showing interest in the Spanish winger. However, Mikel Arteta hopes that Arsenal is his first preference. However, this will only happen if Real Madrid decides to sell him in the January transfer window. Manchester United were also interested in signing Marco in the summer transfer window. However, there was no movement on the deadline day.
Hence, it is going to be difficult for Arsenal to sign Marco Asensio in January. However, the fans have rightfully said on social media that the club will focus on signing Mykhaylo Mudryk.
