Akash Madhwal receives praise from all corners after his performance

Mumbai Indians’ latest pace sensation, Akash Madhwal is receiving praise from everywhere after his performance.

In the Eliminator against Lucknow Super Giants, Madhwal bowled a brilliant spell of 3.3 overs wherein he took 5 wickets and gave only 5 runs in the process.

Also, Mumbai Indians won the toss and decided to bat first and posted 182 runs on the board.

They then asked LSG to chase down 183 runs which was not a tough one to do for the chasing team.

However, things started to go downhill very quickly for LSG as some poor running between the wickets and splendid bowling from MI bowlers bundled them up for 101 runs.

Without the experience of Jofra Archer and Jasprit Bumrah, Madhwal was put into this game and he delivered with the ball.

Although he has given some clinical displays throughout the tournament, Madhwal played the Eliminator without any prior IPL experience.

This win has now allowed Mumbai Indians to take one step closer to the final and they will play Gujarat Titans today.

Madhwal says engineers tend to learn things quickly

Madhwal was questioned about whether he’s just a replacement for Jasprit Bumrah in the tournament and he said,

I was just practicing, and waiting for this opportunity. I did my engineering and played tennis-ball cricket since it was my passion. Engineers have a tendency to learn early! I just practice, and that is what we execute. I’m proud of myself, but I’ll try to be better. Bumrah bhai has his own place, and I’m just trying to play a role. Pooran was the best wicket. Everyone at home believes I’m working hard.

On the other hand, Madhwal has also broken Anil Kumble’s record of the most economical five-wicket haul with this performance.

Now, many current and former cricketers are in full awe of Madhwal and have showered massive praise on him.

Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians will battle it out today at the Narendra Modi Stadium where MI will look to get into the final of the tournament.
