Australia has recently signed up former England head coach, Andy Flower for their WTC and Ashes campaigns.
Furthermore, England is going to host the Ashes this year, starting from the 16th of June and it will be over on the 31st of July.
This appointment has come because of Flower’s experience of the English conditions and also of the opposition that Australia will face.
Moreover, Flower has been part of three Ashes triumphs with England in 2009, 2010-11, and 2013.
However, he resigned from his post after England got a bitter whitewash against Australia in 2013-14.
After the appointment of Flower for their campaigns, Aussie skipper, Pat Cummins has stated that they are very lucky to have the former Zimbabwe player by their side.
Additionally, Cummins also feels that Flower will be able to guide them very well against England in the Ashes.
[He brings] experience over here, first of all and knows these conditions really well. Hopefully, he knows the opposition, so if he can give us one little bit of insight into playing in England that we haven’t thought about then it’s worth it.
Cummins also says that Australia has brought in different coaches during different times
Cummins then went on to say that head coach, Andrew McDonald has also worked with Flower in the past and he has also seen Australia bring in different people at different times.
I think Andrew [McDonald] has worked with him quite a bit, and you’ve seen us over the years bring in different people at different times. We’re pretty lucky to have someone as experienced as Andy.
However, Flower will not be available for the first Ashes Test at Edgbaston. He will join the team towards the fag end of the Ashes, most likely for the 3rd Test at Headingley on the 6th of July.
