Arsenal and Tottenham wanted to bring in Antonio Conte. But according to TalkSport, the former Chelsea boss wants to work for a ‘winning project’. He believes that Arsenal and Tottenham don’t have a project of such sorts. Antonio Conte would prefer a move to Manchester United.
The Italian coach left Inter after an amazing title-winning season. Conte decided to leave Inter because he had a disagreement with the Inter board about the club’s future. Inter had to sell star players like Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi.
Before Tottenham appointed Nuno Espírito Santo they held talks with Antonio Conte. But the Italian coach was not impressed with Tottenham’s short-term trophy prospects. So he decided to wait on a bigger opportunity. Moreover, Antonio Conte does not want to join Arsenal. This is because Conte thinks that Arsenal has a long-term project but lacks the players.
Why does Antonio Conte prefer Manchester United over Arsenal and Tottenham?
Reports suggest that Conte is willing to take over Manchester United. He believes that United have the players and a project that he is willing to work for. United have signed proven winners like Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane. Moreover, United have the players that can fit into his preferred 3-5-2 formation.
Meanwhile, there has been zero contact between Conte and Manchester United. Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjær has recently signed a three-year contract with the club. This shows that the Manchester United board is showing faith in him and his project. Since joining United the Norwegian manager’s biggest accomplishment has been finishing second in the Premier League and reaching the Europa League final.
Antonio Conte is a much more accomplished manager. He has won Serie A with Juventus and Inter. Moreover, he managed Chelsea between 2016 to 2018. During his previous Premier League spell the Premier League and FA Cup at Stamford Bridge.
