Scott Parker expressed his disappointment with his team’s spending this summer. He acknowledged that his team’s preparations for the next Premier League season are “far short” of what they should be.

Bournemouth have sold eight players since winning promotion back to the top division. On the other hand, they have only signed two players—free agents Joe Rothwell and Ryan Fredericks. Furthermore, both are injured for the first game of the season against Aston Villa.

What Did Parker Say

It’s clear that we are lacking in a lot of areas at this present moment in time. That’s just very clear. We need to work out whether we want to give ourselves a chance of being competitive this year. At the moment, that is not the case.

I didn’t anticipate at this moment in time to be where we are, six days out from the start of the season, but that’s exactly where we are.

When asked about Bournemouth’s prospects this season, Parker cut a pessimistic figure.

We’re short at the moment, that’s very, very clear. We are six days out from the start of the Premier League season and we’re way short of where we need to be. That’s the cold, hard facts really. We need to do all we can to try and get some help.

So while the season in front of us is going to be a real challenging one, and no doubt it’s going to be a dogfight for us along with other teams that have spent a lot of money

It is disappointing to see Bournemouth in this state. They were one of the most exciting promoted teams back in the day. The Cherries played some attractive football under Eddie Howe, and won some big games. Scott Parker is another talented manager, and fans will hope he can be successful in this campaign.
