PSG star forward Neymar is reportedly looking for an exit from Parc Des Princes and as it stands, Chelsea is likely to become his new home. The club is happy to allow the star to leave following his five-year stay at the club. PSG brought Neymar back in 2017 after paying a record-breaking €222 million for the Brazilian’s departure from Camp Nou.
According to a report from ESPN, Neymar’s agent Pini Zahavi is on the lookout for potential suitors for Neymar. However, Neymar is pretty expensive and his asking wages are very high. There are very few clubs that can afford to bring him to their club. Chelsea, Manchester United, and Juventus are some of the clubs that can afford the player.
Neymar has been offered to Chelsea. The new owner of Chelsea, Todd Boehly is looking to make a statement this summer and a swoop for Neymar cannot be ruled out. However, it is not known whether Thomas Tuchel is interested in signing Neymar. The manager worked with the Brazilian during his regime at PSG.
Neymar’s wages are the main hitch in a move away
Neymar has signed a new contract at Parc Des Princes. This new contract ties him to the club till 2027 and is giving him a salary worth €43 million in gross salary, excluding bonuses. That is a hefty sum that very few clubs can manage to match.
If the Brazilian’s transfer is complete, it is going to weigh heavily on the wage bill of the Blues. This is reportedly one of the reasons why PSG wants him to leave the club.
Chelsea are on the hunt for reinforcements to the attack following Lukaku‘s move to Inter on a loan. Chelsea has had strong links to both Raheem Sterling and Raphinha. The Blues have made an offer to Leeds for Raphinha, which has been agreed by the club. What remains is the personal agreement with Raphinha.
Neymar would greatly bolster the attack of Chelsea. PSG will let him leave for a transfer fee of €50 million. However, his wages will be a challenge for any club that signs him.
