Newcastle United will be looking to bolster their squad after a stellar second half of the season. Things at the Toonside looked quite bleak until the October of 2021. Owner Mike Ashley was a very hated man among the Newcastle fans for his mismanagement of club affairs. On the pitch too, Newcastle seemed to always scrape at the bottom of the barrel.
Only meagre amounts were spent on players, and the manager Steve Bruce’s style was described as turgid by many. The change came with the arrival of their new owners. The Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia purchased the club, and they have not looked back since.
New manager Eddie Howe has introduced a much more attacking brand of football. A number of exciting signings have been made that elevated their level up a notch. Bruno Guimares, Matt Targett, Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood helped them comfortably finish above the relegations spots. In fact, some performances were so thrilling that pundits have given Newcastle an outside shot at European places.

However, their squad may still not be suited for a finish this high. Eddie Howe will look to bolster his squad to make that dream a reality. As such, Newcastle have earmarked Inter Milan duo Denzel Dumfries and Hakan Calhanoglu as their targets. This is according to reports from Calcio Mercato.
The signing of either one of them will be a big statement by the Magpies. However, both of them will be extremely ambitious. Not to mention the high prices for both.
But Inter Milan are in a financial crisis right now. They need to make a few big sales in order to balance their books. Previously, Milan Skriniar and Alessandro Bastoni were expected to leave, but Inter deem them too valuable to the team to sell. As a result, Calhanoglu and Dumfries may be out of San Siro after just one season. Newcastle may be an unlikely destination. But with the financial muscle of their new owners, you can never count it out.
