An attempt was made by Everton to replace Frank Lampard

Everton FC

A report by La Tercera claimed that Everton tried to replace Frank Lampard with Real Betis boss Manuel Pellegrini back in May. The Chelsea legend, the Blues’ former manager, took over Everton in January from Rafa Benitez. Everton was in the throes of relegation and Lampard was appointed to save them from this disgrace.

However, it was until the final game of the 2021-22 campaign that the Merseyside club was assured of playing in this year’s Premier League, which left some fans to be impatient. Lampard could not win the faith of Everton owner Farhad Moshiri. Therefore, he thought of sacking him just five months into the job.

The Toffees were said to have offered the Spanish club £3.4million. However, the Chilean’s release clause was £4.7m. Moreover, Betis responded to the offer by increasing Pellegrini’s fee by 20%.

The impatience of Moshiri could lead to Everton getting into more considerable trouble in the future

If the deal was to go through, then Moshiri would have been responsible for masterminding another blunder of the Merseyside club. It can be understood that Moshiri has zero patience. It is preposterous to even think of sacking Lampard midway- five months into his job.

These short-sighted decisions ultimately are leading to the downfall of the team. The Toffees chief should have faith in the process. Every change needs time to adapt and this should be given to him.

Even if a world-class coach is brought to a struggling team, he will take time to settle in. The most prominent example is that of Jurgen Klopp. He was worse off than Brendan Rodgers in the first few months at Liverpool. However, one can see what he has brought the team to, currently.
