Sport reports that Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag is ‘seducing’ Frenkie de Jong to join his makeover project at the Old Trafford this summer.

The Red Devils and Barcelona are currently said to be negotiating over the Dutch’s transfer. However, De Jong is said to have the final say over the issue.

It has been reported that United were in contact with the Catalan club before the end of this season. This was to confirm whether they would be open to releasing the Dutch this summer.

Barca had assured the Red Devils that they would be willing to sell the midfielder for €80million.

Therefore, Sport now claims that the two clubs are ‘very close to reaching’ an agreement for the 25-year-old.

De Jong could well be ‘packing his bags’ this summer because of Barca’s financial predicament.

Hence, United are keen on utilizing this issue and Ten Hag is trying to convince him.

Mundo Deportivo has confirmed these reports by adding that the English powerhouses are ‘pressing’ to sign De Jong.

Can Ten Hag finally convince De Jong into joining Manchester United?

Ten Hag is “convinced of being able to convince’ De Jong to be part of Ten Hag’s project.

De Jong, however, has not been very willing to join United as they cannot offer him Champions League football.

The Red Devils are still not giving out their prospects of signing the midfielder. On the other hand, Barcelona has also not shown the door to De Jong.

Apart from United, Paris St. Germain, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich are said to be in the race for the Dutchman.

However, there have been different views at the club regarding Barca’s stance to sell the player.

Barca’s top authority has hinted at sporting reasons for releasing De Jong. On the other hand, Barca’s technical staff have blamed the economic situation for them having to do away with the ex-Ajax man.
