Ralf Rangnick knocks Manchester United to sign two ‘modern’ strikers

Manchester United

Manchester United‘s interim boss knocked on the management’s doors of Old Trafford and asked them to sign two ‘modern’ strikers. They are in dire need to bring quality forwards who can add to the attacking threat alongside Ronaldo. Ralf Rangnick will try to make sure they can sign ‘them’ to compete for titles next season.

Rangnick will step down as interim manager for the Red Devils and Ajax manager Erik Ten Hag will replace him. However, Rangnick will work as a consultant for the betterment of the club even though he took the job as the new Austria manager. Both Ten Hag and Rangnick will work towards the ‘squad rebuild’ necessary at the moment for the Old Trafford outfit.

Next goal at Manchester United for Rangnick

Pointing at Liverpool and Manchester City’s attacking prowess and depth he added.

“If you look at Liverpool and Manchester City … they have in their squad five or six top-class strikers. Gabriel Jesus, until four weeks ago, hardly played [for City]. Now he’s playing again regularly. You look at the number of players they have and if you ask me is he playing as a central striker or winger? Is Jack Grealish a winger or striker?”

“Cristiano isn’t a central striker or does not want to play in that position. It’s obvious the club needs at least two new strikers who give this team more quality and more options. I wouldn’t even call it wingers.”

Rangnick continued:

“Two strikers and modern strikers, that do not necessarily have to be wingers. If you look into international football, there aren’t many top teams who still play with two strikers. Most play with either three strikers or a false nine.”

One of Rangnick’s prime tasks will be to bring in ‘modern’ strikers who can ease Ronaldo’s goalscoring burden. Ronaldo scored 18 goals in the league and is currently 3rd in the PL Golden boot race behind Mohamed Salah and Son Heung-Min. Man United only managed to score 57 goals in the league whereas the league leaders Manchester City scored 84. With only 3 games to go and no hopes for silverware, the focus is on the next season for Rangnick.
