Manchester United top target Gyokeres has expressed his desire to leave Sporting Lisbon this summer. He Sweden international has been linked with a move with several clubs in Europe. Man Utd being the favourites to land the player.

The move is surely on the cards as his former head coach Ruben Amorim moved to Old Trafford. He was previously convinced by Amorim to stay at the club last season. The Portuguese side has been dreaming to win back-to-back league titles.

Record, a Portuguese outlet, suggests that the forward has expressed his wish to leave at the end of this campaign. The publication wrote about the matter with the headline ‘Exit in glory’. That states his wish to winning the domestic league title before eventually moving away from the club.

Sporting are currently on the top in the league table. They are leading the title race with three points for now. Their rivals, Benfica are giving them a tough fight while sitting at second. They also have one game in hand compared to the leaders. While Porto, at third place, trail Sporting by six points.

Gyokeres’ season so far in Lisbon

The 26-year-old striker currently has 37 goals in 39 games in all competitions this season so far. That includes scoring 25 goals in 23 league matches.

He is just three goals away from being in list of Sporting’s top 20 goal scorers in the history of the club. He has only joined the side in the summer of 2023.

The forward has a whopping 80 goals in 89 appearances for the club. He joined the side from Championship team Coventry in a £ 20 million move.

The news outlet Record also adds that the Red Devils could face competition from other clubs as well. English clubs like Arsenal and Chelsea also seem to be tracking the player. Other top European sides like Barcelona, Bayern Munich and PSG are also keeping their tabs on Gyokeres.
