The issuance of a direct ultimatum hasn’t gone down well among the fans. The defender runs out of contract in 2026. So there is no need to act in a hurry.

Firstly, there is nothing wrong with a club trying to secure a future for their bright young talents. But Chelsea have gone about it the wrong way. They are not just pressurizing Josh Acheampong into signing a new deal. But, at the same time, they are compromising with his future too. Lack of gametime at this stage of his career will halt his progress. Also, this may end up pushing him away from the club. Already clubs like Real Madrid are willing to sign the 18-year-old in January. It will be interesting to see how the situation pans out.
