No club in the Premier League has spent more money than Chelsea in the summer transfer window. The Blues signed twelve new players this summer including high-profile players like Joao Felix, Pedro Neto, and Kiernan Dewsbury Hall. On the final day of the transfer window, Chelsea signed Jadon Sancho from Manchester United on loan with an option to buy permanently in the future.

Jadon Sancho joined Manchester United in the summer of 2021 from German side Borussia Dortmund. The 24-year-old joined the Red Devils on a five-year contract for a transfer fee of £73m from Dortmund. United had huge expectations from the Englishmen as they spent this much amount on one single player. However, Jadon Sancho was never able to reach that point with Manchester United. In the first two seasons in Manchester, Sancho made 79 appearances across all competitions, scored only 12 goals, and registered 6 assists. While Sancho had close to 40 goal contributions in Dortmund, that number just vanished after he arrived in Manchester.

Jadon Sancho joined Chelsea on loan from Manchester United

In the first half of the last season, Sancho and current United boss, Erik Ten Hag, had a fallout which reflected his playing time on the pitch last season. Last season, Jadon Sancho only made 3 appearances for United before moving to his former club, Dortmund, on loan for the rest of the season. However, Sancho had a successful loan spell with Dortmund in the last season, making 21 appearances, scoring 3 goals and registering 2 assists across all competitions.

Sancho came back at the start of this season at Manchester United. Ten Hag seemed to be eager to work with Jadon Sancho and wanted to forget about the past. Sancho played all the pre-season friendlies for Manchester United and also featured in the Community Shield final against arch-rivals, Manchester City. Despite featuring in all the pre-season friendlies and in the Community shied, Sancho was not involved in any fixtures of United in the Premier League. The club really wanted to offload Sancho and Chelsea came to the rescue. Before Sancho, the Blues already signed eleven new players in the summer. Sancho joined Chelsea on the final day of the transfer window.

All the Blues fans are delighted with the signing of Sancho and were very excited to see him on the pitch. Sancho made his Chelsea debut last week in the Premier League against Bournemouth. Most importantly, the 24 year-old had an assist on his Chelsea debut, and striker, Christopher Nkunku, showed his strength in the opponent’s box and scored the only goal of the match. It’s a brilliant debut for Jadon Sancho at Chelsea.

Before the match Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca praised Jadon Sancho and remarked him as a perfect player. He said,

“I don’t consider Jadon Sancho a risk off the pitch. Whatever’s happened with Erik ten Hag… I have no idea. I can only judge the player on the weeks he’s been with us. He’s been perfect.”

Chelsea are back to winning ways after beating Bournemouth last week. This is the first win for Chelsea in their last three matches. Enzo Maresca would be very happy about his team’s performance and obviously delighted with the performance of Robert Sanchez. After the newly signed goalkeeper, Filip Jorgensen, got injured, Sanchez’s performance will be very important for Chelsea. The former Brighton man had a great game against Bournemouth as he also saved a penalty.
