Chelsea Might Not Sign Saul Niguez Permanently

Chelsea

Chelsea has no plans to recruit Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez permanently after a disastrous loan spell.

According to La Razon, Blues boss Thomas Tuchel does not believe the Spanish international contributes enough to his midfield. To justify the club activating their £34 million option on him. Saul Niguez was a late addition to the Chelsea team. Entering on deadline day to enhance the club’s ranks as they attempt to win more trophies this season.

He has a wealth of experience. Having played 340 games for Atletico Madrid in all competitions over the previous ten years.

Under the aggressive Diego Simeone. Saul Niguez has made significant contributions to their success. But his position has shifted in recent seasons. With heavy competition for centre midfield positions headed by Koke, Thomas Lemar, Rodrigo De Paul. As well as Geoffrey Kondogbia, he has frequently played on the left side.

Following negotiations with Simeone regarding his desire to play centrally, it was concluded that a loan transfer would benefit all sides. Chelsea was delighted to get the 26-year-old, but his effect has been minimal thus far, and Tuchel is considering alternative possibilities. He began the 3-0 win over Aston Villa before being substituted at halftime, and he has since sat out the following four Premier League games.

On Wednesday, he made his third appearance for the club in all competitions, making a late cameo against Malmo at home. With Saul Niguez set to return to Atletico Madrid when his loan agreement with Chelsea ends at the end of the season, Chelsea might instead target Inter Milan’s Marcelo Brozovic. The Croatian midfielder, Mateo Kovacic’s international colleague, is out of contract next summer and is unlikely to continue at the San Siro.

The Story Is Coming To A Close Between Chelsea and Saul Niguez

It must be stated that Saul Niguez was brought by Chelsea as a player simply for squad depth. While a midfield stacked with the likes of Kante and Kovacic won’t at all be pushed to the bench. Saul has quite a few years left on his current contract with Atletico Madrid. Due to this, there would be a higher price tag on the player’s transfer fee.

With this Chelsea might feel there are better signing another player who might be less experienced. But at the same time have the potential to increase his value in a few years. Saul Niguezmight sees a run of games in the upcoming cup games for Chelsea. Time will only tell if the player can make the jump as a permanent player in the starting 11.
