Real Madrid captain, Karim Benzema has missed a training session just 2 days before their game against FC Barcelona. The 33-yrs-old forward suffered an injury to his right foot during Madrid’s latest Champions League match against Shakhtar Donetsk.

Despite the fact that he was able to finish the game, Benzema had to leave the pitch in agony. However, he scored a late 5th goal for Real as they finished the game 5-0.

With 9 goals and 7 assists, the Frenchman is both the highest goal scorer and assister in the competition.

In form Benzema will win Real Madrid their first El Clasico of the season

Even though Karim missed training, he is not expected to miss the derby on Sunday with this just being a precaution. He has started all games this season for the Spanish side and could use a rest.

Madrid’s game and form have made a huge transition after signing of manager, Carlo Ancelotti. He has changed the game into a more attacking style of play. His trust in Vinicius Jr. has boosted the youngster’s confidence immensely as the winger now buries almost every chance in the back of the net.

Meanwhile, Benzema has become the club’s main man. The player has become a goal scoring machine after the exit of Cristiano Ronaldo. His top form in current years brought him back to the France International team. With a successful UEFA Euro 2021 campaign, he sealed a permanent spot in the French team.

Barca could challenge Madrid in the Clasico to go above them

Madrid and Barca have faced off each other 279 times with Sunday being the 280th encounter. The Blaugrana have a better head to head record than the Los Blancos. With 115 wins in their pocket, Barca will look forward to increasing their tally and go above their rivals in the competition.

With both teams in form, the Clasico will once again be a big fixture for both the clubs.

As per reports, Madrid have no further injury concerns going into the game, but Carlo Ancelotti will want Benzema to play.
