Since announcing the departure of David Moyes from West Ham, Julen Lopetegui is set to take reigns as the new manager. The 57 year-old has quite a few plans for the Hammers and will be keen to build a competitive squad.
Lopetegui’s clarity with his plans and execution makes him a really good manager. However, there could be sparks of friction between Lopetegui and David Sullivan over transfer budget allocations.
As reported by a Telegraph reporter,
“Lopetegui does have a reputation for friction with senior officials at past clubs, but there is also a view that the best managers can be difficult to work with.”
New Signings and Probable 11!
The Hammers have reportedly opened talks with Lille for 21-year old Tiago Santos. The fullback has abundant pace and sense of tackling that makes him a much wanted player. Lille are likely to ask up to £15 million for the young defender.
Wolves’ Max Kilman is next on the list. The 26-year old may cost up to £40 million. The Hammers will also be approaching Monaco for Youssouf Fofana. The Frenchman is expected to cost around £26 million and is known for his dynamic playing ability.
West Ham are also considering to make a move for Sporting’s Pedro Goncalves. The 25-year old winger has had 34 G/A in 47 games for the Portuguese Champions this season. Goncalves could form a lethal combination with Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus.
Last on West Ham’s buying list is Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke. Solanke has been in terrific form this season scoring 19 goals in 37 league appearances for the Cherries. The Hammers are expected to be charged £50 million for the 26-year old.
West Ham could line up in a 4-3-3 (attack) formation. Areola would start in goal. Emerson and Tiago could start as fullbacks. Kilman and Mavropanos would be the centre-halves. Fofana and Alvarez as holding midfielders with Kudus as an attacking option. Goncalves and Bowen on the wings with Solanke leading the line up front.
West Ham Rebuild: Easier Said than Done?
West Ham revolution under Lopetegui will have financial requirements. David Sullivan will have to invest big. Financial fair play could see some West Ham stars leaving that would reduce squad depth. Will the reserves have enough quality? Will the new signings be made and will they settle and adapt? West Ham could have an exciting summer ahead.
